Grrr1LL@ [a]rchit3ctr?

By betadinesutures

I am looking to create, and partner with, talented design professionals to create a multi-discipline design firm. The basis for the firm would be to create environments that would tap into and not limited to; architecture, graphic design, art, landscape architecture, event planning, advertising, branding, furniture design, industrial and product design.

What I am thinking about is a type of "guerrilla" architecture - think Keith » READ MORE

By DIY Maven

Christmas ‘08 wrapping paper is probably in the recycling bin by now, but you might have saved a bow or two or ten. Or maybe you hit–or are going to hit–the after Christmas sales to stock up on some dirt cheap wrapping paper. Either way, you’re going to need a place to store the stuff until next year. BHG has some great ideas that will keep those wrapping supplies neat and tidy until they’re needed again.

The easiest of the bunch is » READ MORE

Have you outgrown that favorite sweater? Found a cool sweater at a rummage sale or Good Will that's not exactly your size but the yarn is beautiful? Well, with a little time and patience, you can unravel them and reuse the yarn. Neauveau Fiber Arts talks us through the process and makes it seem not so scary!

An Incredible Slipcover Story

By DIY Maven

If you think making a slipcover has got to be easier than re-upholstering a piece of furniture, do both and get back to me. Okay, so slipcovers CAN be easy...but the one featured in this VERY DETAILED article wasn't. THAT I can guarantee.

I mean, seriously, what an undertaking?! The whole project took 8 days and cost $213.55. See the entire story here.

Who butchered the Baker?

By boopalina and bebe

vintage Baker cocktail table

In August, we helped my dad move into a new home and we subsequently inherited this vintage roadside find.  He was going to just leave it behind, but I instantly knew it had incredible design potential.  What I didn't know, until finding a little hidden plaque on it, was that it's a Baker cocktail table.  If you're wondering what the heck that means...well...you're not alone.  I was a bit curious (and Baker-ignorant) so I did » READ MORE

Holiday Finale: Snow-Stuffed Christmas Ball

By DIY Maven

created on: 12/23/08

Okay...just ONE MORE Christmas-y thing before the big day! I was so inspired by madamsewingstick's knitter's Christmas ball, I decided I had to go for the crocheter's version. Of course, if you don't crochet, you could 'stuff' your ball with a small paper snowflake or even one made out of craft foam, but if choosing foam, I might opt to dust it with some fine crystal glitter to make it look not so foamy. Basically, I did what madam s » READ MORE

A Knitter's Chirstmas Ball

By DIY Maven

Spotted this ingenious little item on Ravelry. It's creator, madamsewingstick, first knitted the tiny piece on regular knitting needles and then transferred it to toothpicks with beads at one end. She slipped the entire piece into a clear glass Christmas ball, suspending the needles by invisible thread.

Loom Flower Holiday Bows

By DIY Maven

Cathy over on Craftstylish has used her flower loom to embellish holiday packages, and the outcome is absolutely darling. She also offers a tutorial on how to loom the little buggers. If you're interested in this technique, you can actually make your own loom, like I did. And although Cathy's bows are much prettier than, say, bows made of old casette tape tape, they're not as tree-hugger-y. :)
